Taikoo Flowers is located 1910m above sea level, sixty kilometres north of Kunming in Yunnan province in South Western China. In 2007 we will complete the construction of the initial ten hectares of modern greenhouses and supporting infrastructure including cold storage, grading halls and packhouse facilities.
This will then be one of the largest projects of its kind in China with the unique proposition that 100% of cut-flowers will be grown on hydroponics in order achieve consistently high-quality production, larger bud size, more vibrant colours and larger leaves. Hydroponics also results in a reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilizers, water conservation and reduced wastage.
In addition to meeting the ever-increasing demands of the domestic market in China, a significant percentage of cut flowers grown at Taikoo Flowers will be destined for markets such as Japan.
